I was worried that with coming home from tour, not having a conventional job, and knowing I'm not going back to school in the fall, there was a slight chance I would become a couch potato with a complete lack of motivation, but it's already clear that potato-dom is not going to be my future.
Last night I had my first meeting with the other Zaxy girls (Zaxy.com is the blog I am going to start writing for, and the other bloggers Tara and Brittney are wonderful, fun, nerdy girls). We met up at this sausage and beer place called Shultzy's, oblivious to the fact that we arrived right in time for Trivia Night.
The intention was to get to know each other and at least attempt to have a psuedo-meeting, but it was pretty difficult to discuss anything serious with Mr. Announcer Face blaring questions about motorcycle nicknames, celebrity love scandals, and old-school video games in our ears all night. So despite our depressingly low score (a measley 3 points due to lack of participation and motorcycle knowledge) we did manage to go over the exciting events we have lined up in the next few months, including a Zaxy sleepover, podcast interviews, and the festivities surrounding PAX that we're going to be attending.
I am a relatively well-informed nerd, but I have operated in the same niche nerd bubble for most of my life, so I am kind of excited to be broadening my horizons. Going to a gaming conference and writing for a blog that isn't focused around Harry Potter or Lost or YouTube News is going to be a challenge for me, but it's going to be fun and I am looking forward to the new experiences. And the parties. Apparently PAX has lots of parties. And a Tri-Wizard Drinking Tournament.
Speaking of new things, I just finished OH MY GOD A SPIDER JUST CRAWLED ACROSS MY MONITOR. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. MY MONITOR!! WHO DOES THAT.
I just went to grab a tissue and now it's GONE. THE SPIDER IS GONE. Probably walking around on my desk or down in the carpet or ON ME.
What I was going to say before was that I just finished Season 1 of Buffy, but I don't even want to talk about it anymore.
I do not like spiders. I am going to end this post now while I tear apart my computer desk area trying to find and destroy him.
I will leave you, today, with proof of why I love both webcomics and my mother. Below is a photo of my Mom in the hat she bought this weekend at a street fair, and yesterday's Natalie Dee comic. No relation.

nice blog. definitely look forward to following all your professional internet nonsense.
Eww spiders! -shudders-
But cool hats xD
Oh spiders... how you distract us from anything and everything.
Kristina, I love reading your blog. I lol'd when I was reading about the spider attack. It reminded me so much of Alex (kira902k) she would do the exact same thing xD
Also, I hope you liked Buffy! I honestly thought season 1 was a little slow but awesome nonetheless.
Whoa, when did this Zaxy thing start? What exactly is it? Do tell!
Please edit this blog and tell us when you kill the spider, I'm genuinely scared >.>
AHH! There was a FREAKIN HUGE spider in my garage the other night!! I sprayed it with foamy poison stuff and waited only to see it fight through the foam mountain and try to get me again!! No joke! So I sprayed it again til it was dead. At least I hope it was dead. I hope it didn't just ingest the poison only to grow bigger and stronger...
Also, I know you don't do this anymore but the word verification is "lamisol". A wool camisole perhaps? Sorry. I've never had a funny one before and I thought I should share it. : )
Don't kill the spider? :(
I hope you find the spider...those things are creepy...it's just not natural to have six appendages...or be able to make a web...Spiderman is okay though...he only has four...
Gahahaha. I love how your response to the spider was "WHO DOES THAT." xD
You were searching for the northern lights! Did you get to see them last night? If not I heard they are probably coming again on Thursday night. I live out in Snoqualmie, so I got to see flashes of it outside my window. It was so cool!
"Speaking of new things, I just finished OH MY GOD A SPIDER JUST CRAWLED ACROSS MY MONITOR. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. MY MONITOR!! WHO DOES THAT."
HAHAHAHAHAHA...Oh my God. Such a Kristina moment. Mostly cuz of the "who does that", lol.
KRISTINA, I know you are a big fan of web comics, so if I may make a reccomendation...
You should read Problem Sleuth on MS Paint Adventures. I have an entire blog post dedicated to professing my love for it in detail, but lemme just say this: if you love epic tales of imagination, hilarity, and action, told in the medium of a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Game, then you'll LOVE Problem Sleuth.
There was a wasp flying stealth and low in my bathroom last night around 4am WHILE I WAS USING IT. I don't deal with stingers, so I shut it in, and stuffed a towel in the space under the door to prevent escape. My dad will never let me live this down now because it was apparently a very small wasp. My argument: there was a stinger. End of discussion.
Buffy is awesome. I hope you liked the first season. You should definitely continue watching it - the later seasons are mostly better.
I'm very intrigued by your google search...northern lights in washington? I have a little obsession with them, will see them somedayy x
All I can say is the hat your mom bought is totally awesome :)
Firstly, reason why today is awesome: YOUR MOM'S HAT!
I'm quite terrified of spiders, I understand your dilemma of loosing it... Then again, I'm too chicken to deal with them anyhow, mostly I call someone bigger than me to sort it out!
Couldn't help but giggle, "Well-informed nerd!"
Are you going to keep watching Buffy? I hope you will, I think season 2 is much more interesting! And ew, spiders. I don't know why that is but there are SO many around my new appartment. And your mom's hat is beyond awesome! :D
PS: I'm doing BEDA too, cause I kinda failed it in april, and so far it's going good!
I hope you keep watching buffy!
I watched the whole series this year and really enjoyed it :)
I'm also really glad you're doing BEDA because I've missed reading your blog.
and spiders . . . hate em.
agh a apider! that made me laugh Kristina, you become more awesome every day, and I will certainly read this new blog.
Where were those hats found? Or, knowing you and your lot, made? I need one.
Ahhhh spiders!! I'm jumpy just from reading that in your blog.
Buffy is fantastic. <3
And that picture of the lobster hat thing is amazing.
I can't figure out what Zaxy.com IS. There should be an about section.
But it seems cool. Good luck! :D
