It could be a LOT worse.

I've seen a lot of tweets and Facebook updates this morning about people starting school.

It snuck up on me, really. I thought it would feel incredibly strange, you know, not school shopping or signing up for classes or any of that, but I didn't even realize summer was nearing its end yet. I'm still wearing shorts, walking around without a jacket on, and gearing up for my trip to the Bahamas next week (more on that later [like later this week]).

I guess I'm so far removed from the college life now (everyone I live with has graduated already) that it's not even on my radar. That's... bizarre. I thought it would feel weirder, but maybe it takes a little longer. For right now, I am still loving the post-collegiate life, and not really feeling nostalgic for books, school buses, pens or pencils of any kind.

And I have strawberry cheesecake on a plate right beside me. So, you know.

So I'm sitting upstairs with Eia, hanging out in my bedroom and looking up old female powerhouse pop hits from our youth, when I hear Paul come in the house downstairs. Justin's sitting in the living room and after closing the door behind him, Paul just stops dead in his tracks.

"What, no Buffy? What is this?"
Justin looks up from his work he's doing on his laptop looking incredibly proud. "See? SEE PAUL?"
He smirked. "It's like I walked into the wrong house or something."

I then storm down the stairs yelling, "Paul! Hey. I don't like your tone!"

He looks at me and says, "All I'm saying, is that my exgirlfriend started watching Buffy her sophomore year of college and actually stopped going to class. It happens."

"Paul, clearly I'm not going to let that happen. I don't even have class."

"That sounds like something an addict would say."

I hmph at him and retort, "I don't think you're viewing this situation correctly. You could be walking in on us snorting coke or something in the living room every day. It could be much worse."

"Yeah," Paul mused. "You could be watching 7th Heaven."

Now I am contemplating how to spend my evening, as I edited two videos today (that's twice as many as I set out to!) so I am hereby giving myself the night off when it comes to doing productive things. I also sold a bunch of my old books at Half Price Books (for $7 total, thanks a lot stupid store) and went to the bank.

Speaking of my bank, they of course did not fail to make me smile again today when I stopped in. After depositing my check, the guy that was helping me said, "Here is your receipt, and here is your lifesaver." Then he slid me a bright red lifesaver candy. Amazing. Guys. This bank. I can't even convey how much I love going there. Every time it's something new.

Question for today's comments section - what are some awesome goofy songs from your childhood? Eia and I are having a hard time thinking of any beyond, like, songs from Josie and the Pussycats or my Sailor Moon soundtrack.

Last google search: "cooking a baked potato in the microwave" <-- Yes, I am that lazy.
Chipotle burritos: 18

I can't really do the motions for the song over a comment, but we learned a song at camp that had all of these little dance moves. It went like this...

"McDonalds McDonalds..Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut".

That my friend...is why Iowa is so obese.

It's really strange being in my senior year of college right now. The way that you're talking about finishing college is how I feel about being in the last swing of it. Going to the last "first day of classes" and living in my last college house... it's not phasing me at all yet. I wonder if it'll set in later and then hit me after I graduate, or hit me at all? I tend to not realize things are over until months after the fact.

Suggestion for some childhood favorites? B*Witched from the Disney Channel or even further back: Marykate and Ashley Olsen sing-alongs.

Ridiculous songs from my childhood? Let me revive an old summer camp favorite. Ahem.
(Note: The best part about this song is it is sung in a minor key, and with the most monotone-type voice possible.)

Three chartreuse buzzards *squawk*
Three chartreuse buzzards *squawk*
Three chartreuse buuuuuzzzzaaards
Sitting. In a. Dead tree.
OHHH, look. One has flown AAA-way. What AAA shame.

Repeat, until there are zero chartreuse buzzards.

I have a weakness for Pokemon songs, myself. The theme for the first Johto season especially.

I have this hilarious Space Ghost CD from when I was in Elementary School...Its called Space Ghost Surf and Turf. They have weird remakes of popular songs of the time.

That conversation was absolutely hilarious. Also, I can see how his ex would stop going to school to watch Buffy. Part of me is thinking of delaying going to grad school after college because it'd take away from my Buffy watching time. And I'm a Ravenclaw. Anyways...

I remember the I'm Blue song that everyone dented the lyrics of ('da ba de da ba di' or 'if I were green I would die.') Soooo many arguments on the playground about that. Also, boy bands, nuff said.

Life is like a hurricane
Here in Duckburg
Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes
It's a duck-blur
Might solve a mystery
Or rewrite history

DuckTales Woooh oooo!

that Buffy story really is awesome. I miss having room mates and having crazy conversations like that.

I will forever equate Radio Disney, back it was new and shiny, to my childhood. And Weird Al. And Veggie Tales.

Okay my first goofy songs are actually horribly pun-filled.

"Stand Out" and "I2I" from "A Goofy Movie"

and a much lesser known set of songs are on a cassette of pop/dance songs supposedly song by Barbie and her friends that you could receive for a penny if you bought a certain Barbie doll.

Such classics include: "Our Game", "Dreamin'", and "Doin'the Barbie"

....and yes, I still own both of these relics. *sigh*

See you are not the only one with pack rat tendencies.

Dear Boss! That was an awesome song. One of my YMCA counselors used to always sing it during our assemblies.

That, and Tubthumping by Chumbawamba.

Oh wow! I need the Sailor Moon soundtrack! I have the Sailor Uranus & Neptune theme, violin melody, on my mp3 but that's it. Yeah, I think the goofy music for me would be from Sailor Moon or Pokemon.

My freshman roommate watched all of Buffy and Angel the summer before starting college, and so our room became known as "The Buffy Room". We had Buffy nights on Wednesdays where 15 people would crowd on a dorm bed watching selected episodes. This continued the whole year. We stopped watching new episodes and started watching favorites after a while... I've seen "Fool For Love", "Something Blue", and "Tabula Rasa" enough times at this point that I've memorized all the dialogue...

Hahaha. I'm back because I can't believe I forgot my other "songs meant for children" weakness..

Jem and the Holograms !! Totally.

I'm pretty sure the first CD I ever owned was the Lizzie McQuire Movie soundtrack, hah.

Lol! I love Paul. Tell him he has a fan :)

The only song I can even think of is "It makes me ill" by NSYNC. Have you SEEN that music video? It's ridiculous!!

My friend and I have Our Song, the song that we were obsessed with in middle school, despite it's ridiculousness: Just Lose It by Eminem. Even after years of not having heard it, we can still recite the entire thing.

I think the only songs I used to sing as a child were the disney songs. In particular the Little Mermaid ones like Under the Sea. Oh! and also the Hercules ones like I won't say (I'm in love).

Well, obviously Spice Girls, Britney Spears and 'nsync. But I guess that wasn't exactly your CHILD hood?
Also, this made me laugh /so/ much. Especially after getting all worried after reading Hayley's blog.
Paul and Justin sound hysterical.
And that bank sounds wonderful. I aspire to be able to make people smile like that when they talk to me. :)
