SITC trials and errors.

I am sitting on a couch with Emma and Jerry, having a laptop party slash sleepover and pajama party... and I am here blogging. xD

Today was Day One of Summer in the City... I survived it at least. I met a lot of great people (including Becky, GeorgieBOOM, a funny guy from Germany, Saraxxlou, Johnny and a load of other people I can't remember the names of). I think the best/worst part of the day was when we were all standing in the park in Leicester Square and suddenly, out of nowhere it just started POURING on everyone. I was literally pulled under an umbrella and a jacket in a group of people I only had just met and had a very wet, very close bonding experience with said people. Everyone was huddled under various little groups for the 3-5 minutes it poured until it passed. That's what I don't get about London. These weird, short bursts of DOWNPOUR rain. Everyone needs to leave Seattle alone, because our rain is awesome. London's rain sucks.

The events of the day were basically:
1. Stand in a park.
2. Break into groups to go on "tours" of the city.
3. Happen to join the slacker group led by Gary that just sat in one place for an hour because we're apathetic losers.
4. Go to Leicester square to eat.
5. Try to go to Pizza Hut.
6. Fail.
7. Go to McDonalds.
8. Have an elitist picnic lunch with Emma and Jerry on a blanket while everyone else ate their fast food on the grass.
9. Get rained on.
10. Leave with Johnny and various other people to go this scary haunted thing.
11. Find out haunted thing costs money.
12. Not go to haunted thing.
13. Go to Arcade.

I met a lovely girl name Karla (whose accent I loved) and we played 2 rounds of DDR, which was awesome because even though I hadn't played in years, people seemed to be impressed with my SKILLZ so I enjoyed myself.

So the really crappy part of the day was that literally within 30 seconds of being at SITC, my purse just BROKE. Out of NOWHERE. The strap broke off and I had no way to carry it on my shoulder anymore and I was really upset. These two sweet girls came up and gave me a big bulky safety pin, which essentially worked, but kept coming undone and I kept stabbing myself on accident, so I have all these bloody little pinpricks on my left hand from the course of the day that I didnt notice until later. :/
I liked that purse a lot. Now I have the strap tied around in a very unfashionable way, but it's holding, and I can't afford a new one if I want to go to Rome and Paris - I don't need to impress anyone with my fashion! I don't care!

I'm not going to talk about my experience seeing Alex today, but it wasn't easy. Or successful, really.

In other news, I'm tired of laptopping while I am sitting here in London with two of my best friends, so I'm LEAVING. GOODBYE.

Days: Still 27
Indian Food: 9

Hey my purse broke today aswell. Its lame. Op-shops for a new purse perhaps?

Enjoy the rest of SITC. I wish I could go but ... well, I'm in South Australia which is practically the whole world away. So have fun!

Glad to see you had some fun today!

And why do purses break at the worst of times?

Maybe you could ask around for a purse repair shop? I think sometimes shoe repair places do that sort of thing as well. It could be cheaper than buying a new one, anyway. =]

Yeah, I gotta go for Paris and Rome over a new purse for you too. Or a new pretty much anything else for that matter. Glad ou met some cool people and had friends around you, sorry about the small annoyances and the meeting with the boy who shall not be named. All up hill from here though, right?

Sounds like fun! I'm glad you got to meet some cool/nice people there. :) And at least your purse isn't being held together by duct tape because I'm sure that's way less fashionable than however you have it now. Unless you have a silver purse...then it MIGHT work. Maybe. Mmmeh.

Hmm, I have absolutely no useful advice on how to repair a purse. But enjoy this second half of your stay in Europe! Paris is one of my favorite cities in the world, and I'll be returning there in December! Anyhow, keep us posted on what you're doing...and how you're doing. Your blog readers really do care about you :)

Well, it seems that you had a pretty successful day at SITC! Wish I could have gone. Unfortunately there is a large body of water that seperates me from the rest of the world. Which could be problematic.

i LOVE when i lose the comment i just wrote! it's my favorite thing ever.

sorry about the seeing a*** fandango. boooo.

english rain is extremely aggressive. sounds like you had a fun day though. i laughed a lot at the whole "went to haunted thingy/found out it cost money/didn't go to haunted thingy" because it sums up a lot of my adventures. elitist picnics are always a hoot though.

Ah, purses. So much more trouble than they're worth.
I'm glad that you hsd a (mostly) fun trip and that you're not letting the unfun get to you. Slumber party! *jumps onto the couch with you three, holding Doctor Who season 2 in my hand*

Just know that your blog readers love you, and when you're ready to talk about seeing that boy again, we'll listen. Cheers love.

Does London not have some kind of Salvation Army/Value Village equivalent where you can pick up a purse for like, $7? If not, then my opinion of the city has greatly been diminished.

If not, just use Duct Tape. Science has proven that with a combination of Duct Tape, WD-40, Robertson screws, and your father's knowledge, you can fix anything on earth.

I'm glad you got to meet new people and hang out! man the whole purse thing just sucks... but sometimes things like that and the rain make good stories. And they make good bonding experiences too!

sorry about the whole thing with the boy. the first time is always the hardest. hopefully it will get easier..

hope you have fun tomorrow! :)

Oh my gosh, DDR is so much fun, I was playing it earlier today to :]

Hahaha, that sounds like Florida summer rain. You can be in the middle of a torrential downpour one minute, and five minutes later, it's clear skies. Yay, hurricane season! Haha.

I hope the rest of SITC goes well for you and that you either don't see much of you-know-who, or your next encounters go much better.

...and I just realized that calling him you-know-who may imply that I'm comparing him to Voldemort, which wasn't really my intention. Lol.

You loved my slacker group! Karla was amazing! Can't wait to see her again today (Sat) x

All my bags have a habit of breaking at the most inopportune moments. I once had to carry my really heavy school bag around in my arms all day. It was ridiculous.

Enjoy the rest of SitC...still wish I could be there, but there's no point getting upset because there's nothing I can do about it.

Hope the rest of it is as awesome as the first day, and that you don't have any more difficult encounters with Alex.

=)

Hey kristina,
As a fill in you could get a new bag at primark or somewhere for less than £5. It won't be great but it might just get you through.
Glkad you are having fun at Summer in the City - I wish I could be there!
Cheers love x

GEORGINA said...

I was going to comment exactly the same as mollygrace, you could go to Primark and get a new purse for about £4.

And thank you for verifying my theory that Seattle rain is different from English rain!

Rain always brings about the best bonding. Something about looking like a drowned cat (that's what I always look like anyway you probably look like a damp supermodel lol) around other people just brings you closer.

Enjoy the rest of SITC. Perhaps tomorrow you can see a bit more and remember to take an umbrella. Sorry about the purse, but the people you want to meet won't care.

PS Jerry cracked me up.

I realised that at the Harry Potter preimere in London where it just rained like craziness. We kind of made a tent with random people it was awesomeness. :)

ARGH.

I've been reading you're blog for quite a long time (since the beginning of April, I think), and I LOVE IT. You're interesting and funny and talented and exactly the kind of person I want to be when I'm 21. I probably should have introduced myself on that post you wrote in July, where everyone else did, but I guess I'm just too shy and sure people are never interested in what I have to say, but when I saw you were coming to Paris I had to comment. I live there, and it'll be nice to know you're there and have the crazy hope of running into you.

Anyway, enjoy the rest of Summer in the City, I hope you'll have lots of fun =)

A bientôt, Sarah.

PS: this is why I never comment : I always end up rambling on for lines and lines and never saying anything useful or interesting. Tant pis.

but i'm so glad that you are feeling happier again.
farewell x

You elitist blanket owners better watch out the grass sitting proletariat may just rise up against you and your bourgeois ways.

Glad that you had (mostly) fun at SITC, I saw you around a few times but I always feel bad interrupting people in their conversations, I managed to get a quick hug and hello before I left the gig though =]

I hope you have an amazing time in the rest of Europe, Paris is beautiful.

I am having a clear out of my handbags/purses - I keep meaning to post them on ebay but keep sucking at it - is there a particular style that you'd like?

I will mail it to you and that way you can save your pennies for Rome and Paris (very jealous!)

Eeeeh, I got described as a "sweet girl" :) Sorry the safety pin stabbed you! It was really nice to see you even though we didn't get to talk properly. I've just read all of your blogs from this weekend and although you seem to have had a mixed time I'm glad to see at least some of it was great. <3
