The mildly terrifying thing I am learning while on this vacation is that freaking EVERYONE watches my videos or reads my blog.
My aunt and my cousin have been watching Mrs. Nerimon since it went up in March.
My grandma reads my blog.
My other aunt asked me how my mosquito bites from Montana were doing. I only talked about those here on my blog.
On the one hand, I am incredibly flattered. My family loves and misses me and takes time out of their days to catch up with mine. That means a lot to me.
On the other hand, they're giving my previously faceless mass of an audience a very familiar face and suddenly I'm feeling very glad I never broke my own "be a good role model" rule on the internet. xD
I suppose it's just weird. I sit in my room, I make videos, I don't see any of the people watching the videos and I only hear from the ones who choose to comment. The number rises higher and higher on the view count, but because I read comments it really only FEELS like a handful of people are viewing. Same with my blog. Reader and Blogger counts tell me I have about 1500 people who subscribe to my blog but only 7-20 comment so my audience feels much smaller.
So to know that my family has been reading and watching and I had no idea - who ELSE is following my online life and staying perfectly anonymous? IT'S WEIRD.
In other news, we're about to go to the Linton 4th of July Parade. Heck yes I am getting candy.
In other other news, we've stopped in a few "legendaaaary" towns on this trip that I feel like sharing. xD
Ellsworth, Wisconsin: Cheese Curd capital of the world.
Wishek, North Dakota: Sauerkraut capital of the world.
...of the WORLD. This, folks, is North Dakota.

No way. You're kidding right? Sauerkraut is fantastic! Maybe you just haven't had nice Sauerkraut...hmm... enjoy the trip!
If you've been to the sauerkraut capital of the world, then you must go to the corn palace. It's...basically the best thing ever.
I've never commented before but in the interest of viewers being less anonymous... here you go.
The perceived editing of your online identity is probably as bemusing to your family as it is to you. I bet they would identify different ommissions/alterations as significant than you would. Which is possibly the most interesting part of the whole situation (to me, anyhow).
Happy American Holiday :)
The sauerkraut capital of the world is in North Dakota? I'd think it'd be in Germany. Either way, sauerkraut is awesome and I just had some Thursday night on a brat. YAY GERMAN FOOD.
I second the idea to visit the Corn palace, it makes for great pictures. I know exactly how it feels to suddenly find out that your family watches you stuff. My grandma sent me an e-mail asking why I hadn't updated youtube in awhile, and I was shocked she even watched.
I think that's a good way to go about on the internet, to keep the "good role model" mentality.
1500 people? O_O woah.
Hi, kristina. I guess you could say I was one of those people who respond to your blog/vlog...no, not really.I sent u an email before!
Kristina man, YES. Holy crap haha sorry it's just recently this has been very crazy for me so i'm strongly oppinionated on it. But my online life and harry potter life are very closley related so last family thing i went to inatead of them struggling to talk to me like with my other cousins or whoever they know nothing about all of my aunts and uncles are ON me talking about my latest video or "this youtube thing" and there favorite thing lately is to of course talk about the HBP movie and theme park. OMG THOUGH. Like Seriously?!?!! It's so weird they all know what i'm doing and they know about my friends and it makes me feel SO uncomforatable. Like you your really lucky in the perfect way that your home
Life and harry potter/ youtube thing meshed and became one. I keep mine totaly seperate so i feel SO weird knowing they know whats going on all the time. Like i've had family members try to follow me on twitter and i dont even say anything im not trying to be rude i just straight up block them. Maybe it's weird, but i just feel to strange knowing they are watching. It's like pressures on. What if i say something about a boy, or something bad i was doung IDK and it's like they try to bring this up in conversation when everyone else is around. Because if they dont see me to often thats all they have to talk about is what thy've seen online. No Lie, my aunt called me this morning to comment on a youtube video i posted yesturday... WEIRDNESS. i guess im just not ready for the two lives to become one yet
Yesterday, I got a Facebook wall post from my English teacher/Journalism advisor from this past year talking about my blog posts and videos.
I don't really mind him seeing that stuff, but it's kind of awkward to know that people you know are watching/reading.
Now I feel like I have to comment :P
Hello Kristina, my name is Dan.
wow.
That's a lot of people.
I wouldn't be able to stand for my family to watch my videos, it would just be weird, and probably make me self consious.
Maybe that should be "legenDAIRY."
Also, Sarah Palin is totally following you.
"cydra" - delicious cider made from the legendary hydra.
I don't supposed "Legendaaaary" was a reference to NPH at all?
hey, i read your blogs..and watch your movies.
there ya go. now you know =P
*Raises hand* I am an anonymous reader/watcher. I suppose that this sort of takes away from the anonymousness of the situation, but I felt it must be done.
I read your blog and never comment, so here it is, first ever comment: Hey, I'm Nicole. :) Your family reading your blog must be quite strange. If any of my family read mine, I'd be mortified!
I'm another anonymous blog reader that never really comments...
I guess now I've revealed myself. :)
So I talked to my mom today and she said she knows of many Horners lol, notably a Pete and a Mike?
I've been following your blog since April & italktosnakes & 5AG youtube since early 2008 I don't think I've commented on a video or blog post once. Sorry.
It just never entered my mind as awesome as I think you are.
Maybe I should leave more comments :P
*waves* I dunno if I've ever commented before, but now I feel that I need to make my presence abundantly clear! Hello!
I don't like sauerkraut either. Ick. Anyway, if my family was doing that, I'd be a little scared. Actually, some of them would probably kick me out of the family. Heh...and wow. This reminded me I need to call my grandmother and thank her for the religious pamphlets she sent me written in Spanish (I'm not religious, but at least she recognizes that I love learning Spanish...)
Oh-and I'm one of those people who always reads your blog and watches your videos, but rarely comments. I'm not entirely sure why, but I think it has something to do with me thinking most of what I say isn't all that interesting. Kind of like this.
making another comment because I feel like you need another comment.
I have a question, how does your large family and such feel about your wizard rocking career and such you are doing? If they know of the blog and the youtubing, they must know about your wizard rock band and at least its existence.
oprohe: pronounced (oh-pro-fay) Its a wonderful desert made of Opra paraphernalia.
This just shows that a bum blogger can get a response 1% of the time. Not saying you are a bum, but 1% seems to be your connection rate with the general population (comments-wise), much like pan handlers on a street corner. You're lucky you've attracted 1500 people though. I could post all day & attract nobody.
The Sauerkraut capital of the world is in America?
That's almost as bad as the Last Samurai being Tom Cruise.
hhahahahaha
i love your life so much. thank you for sharing it with us. <3
I really like reading your blog posts and then I take a look at the tag and it's always something funny xD
i read your blog AND watch your videos! and i am not faceless. i am a sixteen year old female part time blogger part time dog washer from southern england! woop!
just to make myself a little less anonymous... i always read your blogs, watch your videos and mosy on by your twitter :)
i love the way you write; no purge for kristina, aha.
enjoy your summer, miss.
love from the shire, scotland.
XxXaXxX
Hi Kristina's family! :D *waves
Ugh I can't stand sauerkraut! Which made living in Germany for a few months interesting...
A town near where I live (in Michigan) is apparently the Kohlrabi capital of the world. I'm not actually sure what Kohlrabi is, or if I'm even spelling it correctly :)
Hearing that you only get 20 or so comments form your 1500 subscribers made me want to comment, but I don't think I have anything useful to add.
Just thought I'd let you know you have a 19 year old Kiwi (New Zealander) girl who follows pretty much everything you do on the net.... not in a creepy way.
Keep being awesome, I love the way you write and blog... its great to know there are others out there like me :)
do you remember people users names that comment all the time?
cause i bet that makes you feel like you know the audience more aswell... :)
This post seems to be bringing all your anonymous, shy readers out into the open! Hello, I'm Katie. In response to your previous blog: I live in an area like the place you mentioned your dad's family is from. We don't have too much family here though; my dad's side is on the west coast and my mom's family is in the Philippines. However, everyone here now knows everyone else and we've meshed well with the community. And every house in my boyfriend's extended family has a mounted deer head (or several) on their basement wall, we have oyster schucking festivals, county fairs, and a ton of redneck jokes...but I still love it. The craziness becomes endearing.
Also, ditto to Cody Hotel's comment. NPH? How I Met Your Mother?
< /obscenely long first comment >
I don't think I have commented before but now I feel the need to :p I hate when people I know find me online, even if it is the most random site that I don't visit often, it makes it feel tainted.
Ewwww sauerkraut! That stuff is gross
i feel obliged to say hello now :P

Hi Kristina, my name is Caitlin. I (somehow I'm behind the times even though I've been on youtube a while) had never seen 5awesomegirls, so last month I watched all of them. Yes. It took like 2 weeks.
I like choir, harry potter and adventures. I also live in the same town as Hank Green.
Nice to meet you.
I've been one of your anonymous readers and subscribers for a while now.
The only real intersting that has happened around where I live, is that my English Teacher from High School is also part of the Fiesta Movement.
That's an intensly awesome car.

Vegerville, Saskatchewan (Yes! I'm Canadian, but that doesn't mean I live in igloos and have moose as pets!) -Biggest Easter Egg in the World!
ps. it rotates xD
Hai Kristina! I am another one of these anonymous people that read your blog. They are quite interesting. :)
DFTBA

I'm anonymous occasionally, hello! Occasionally I also comment. Usually (like today) I feel like I don't have anything interesting to contribute so I don't. But hi!
Hug me.
