Last night I spent the night at my parents' house so that I could pick my mom up from her surgery this morning. Everything is fine; she just had a nasal operation to help her breathe better, but she's been groggy and out of it all morning. I tucked her into bed, gave her some water with a straw, and helped her change her gauze.
I've been sitting in the kitchen working on editing a video so I am near enough to hear if she calls me. I just went in there a few minutes ago to check on her, and she took my hands and thanked me and told me she loved me, said it was easier going through this with someone to care about her.
It was really sweet. :)
My brother is currently back in my old bedroom painting the ceiling. My mom is turning my room into a guestroom, which I am okay with because I don't really plan on ever moving back home. She said it will still be MY room, which is good. It just wont look the same.
The point is that I have lived in that room since I was about 8 or so, and my brother not only had to paint the ceiling, he had to remove the insane amount of glow in the dark stars that dotted the ceiling. And let me tell you, when living in a room that long, at that age, you accumulate a LOT of glow in the dark stars. My room was like the night sky when I turned the lights off. It was great. xD
Not so great, it turns out, to remodel. It took him 2 hours to get all the stickers off.
Now I am off to Gasworks Park to meet Tom Milsom, and I am probably going to be late because they closed the I-90 bridge going West and it's been driving me crazy all week.

I used to have posters all over my ceiling (and walls), before I got bored and took them all down and replaced them with paintings I did in art this year, and photographs of me and my old friends (and one of my old dog, Fred). Your ceiling would've been awesome xD
And your mum is lucky to have you (:
I've always had the room that I have now, as we've never moved house and I think there are more glow in the dark stickers showing than there is actual ceiling.
Also, it's kind of the opposite in my house as I've recently broke my foot and my mum has to fetch and carry for me :)
I don't really tend to put things on my walls, but I've been gathering pitures, and posters, so it's a work in progress. And I think every kid, at some point or another just HAS to have glow in the dark stars. My family moves a lot, but I make sure there's stars on my ceiling everytime =]
And your mum is so lucky to have you for a daughter. =]
You SHOULD put new stars on the new ceiling :D
I only ever had glow in the dark dolphins. :(
I didn't really have stars on my ceiling - I did however at one point had CDs blu-tacked to the ceiling - then when the sunshine came through the window there were rainbows around the room.
oh your mom is so lovely :)
I had a few glow in the dark stars on my old ceiling, but I wasn't tall enough to get them all up there, even though I really wanted to. Your old ceiling sounds amazing!
before my dad had to sell our restaurant which was also my home, my bedroom had a black ceiling so i could do what you did and collect stars that glow in the dark for a night sky
then we moved. =(
i never got my night sky ceiling.
I wonder if the I-90 by you, in Seattle, is the same I-90 by me, in Chicago.
Also, I have a ceiling fan in my room, and I put glow in the dark stickers on the arms. It's insanely cool at night. ^_^
I totally have lots and lts of glow-stars on my ceiling, too! Its practically a galaxy up there...:) I love it still though, and I'm 17 ;)
Just a random pointless comment: thought you might like to know you have subscribers/fans in Portugal too! Or, did you already know that??
Oh, the star stickers! Pretty much my childhood in glow-in-the-dark plastic form. Wish I still had them to decorate my walls, even though I'm almost 18 X)
The Traffic Faerie has not been kind here either. Stuck in traffic twice today for construction in different places. I feel for your pain. However, my dream is that another person in a waiting car will be listening to the same radio station, and we can have a dance party as we wait. That is all. :)
I had glow-in-the-dark stars allllll over my side of the ceiling in my dorm room at college last year. They were a pain to take down, but they're always so pretty so it's worth it. My boyfriend even made an "I <3 KT" right above my bed so it was the last thing I'd see before I went to sleep. I say put more up!
Also, when I was in elementary and middle school I had a glow-in-the-dark jungle room. Tiger, toucan, monkey, plants, giant insects...freakin' awesome stuff. :)
Yes, you should put new stars on the freshly-painted ceiling!!!
I've never had glow-in-the-dark stars in my room, which I've lived in my entire life, but I did at one point have a glow-in-the-dark fish and a sticky had on the ceiling. And the footboard of my bed is covered in stickers from when I was at least four.
Yes! You should put stars all over all the ceilings! :D
