I'm on a boat.

Yesterday I was going to do my laundry and start packing for England, but then my dad called me around 10 and said, "Do you want to go sailing?!" so that's what I did.

I'd never been on a sailboat before, so I was very excited. My parents have a regular boat, the kind you use for intertubing and just regular sort of putting around, and to me, going on a boat means swim suits and SUN.

Sailboats are nothing like that. I spent the entire trip wrapped up in a sweatshirt and a blanket, cursing the wind and my goosebumps.

But besides that, I rather enjoyed it. I love being out on the water, and I love feeling the wind whipping my hair (when it's not trying to kill me from cold) and I love just doing absolutely nothing beyond enjoying being out in the middle of the water.
My dad was trying to teach me how to steer it, but I felt way too much pressure being responsible for those huge sails. It's not like driving a recreational motorboat.

We went right by a cruise ship, which was fun.

The one thing I didn't like about the day, however, is that no matter how hard I tried to think of other things, I just couldn't get "I'm On a Boat" out of my head. I feel like this is going to be a problem I have on boats for a very long time.

I chatted with my dad's friend Neal, the one who owns the sailboat, and Neal's girlfriend, about my upcoming trip to England. Neal was born in Liverpool and then after moving to America with his family, went and finished high school (I don't know what bit that would be in London, college? The end of secondary school?) in Wales because his parents didn't think he was English enough. xD

They were telling me I need to see Cambridge and take a day trip out to Paris. I realized that I'm going to go broke if I go everywhere that everyone has told me to visit on this trip, haha.
I leave one week from today, and I can't WAIT. At this moment next Monday I will have just boarded my flight and will likely be bored out of my skull.

In other news, I think I will be making a 5AG video today possibly, and also yesterday, Tyler Oakley accidentally texted something to me that I think was meant to go to twitter. Hahhaa.

high school is a combination of the last two years of secondary school and the whole two years of college. the uk's school system is super confusing. and i'm in it.

I'm just wondering what on earth Tyler has "Twitter" and "Kristina" saved as in his phone if they're close enough to make that mistake...
The mind boggles.

When you come over here just go with the flow, don't push to get too many experiences in because it won't be as fun.

I always feel ill on boats. And by that I mean the times I have been on boats, I've felt ill. So obviously it's not something I like to do often xD

Yay you're coming back here :D. What are you studying? I hope I see you again!

Hahah, far better to text someone a tweet than to send a personal text to Twitter. I've done that, uh, a few times. Oops!

In other news, did you see the new Eleventh Doctor/Karen Gillan on-set photos? A certain surprising someone has also been spotted on set, first day of filming!

You should take a month or a bit more during the summer to visit Europe, I think you'd love that :) <3

I'M FROM LIVERPOOL. I love it here (:

Yeah, I agree with Elizabeth, don't try and do everything because then you won't have time for...well, anything xD

But since you've been here before, I don't think it'll be a problem.

Have fun (:

Hey, random english fact: they love their tea, right? Did you know that they only drink tea thanks to Portugal??
Yeah, that's right. A portuguese princess who married the british king, Catarina de Bragança, took it there and made it popular. We got it from India. Goes to show you the brits would be nothing without us! (Ok, that's a lie...)

I backpacked Europe last month and was in London for 3 days. I took a day trip out to Cambridge and it was worth it. I had a friend doing research there and we snuck into a college. We tried to hide our American accents. It was a lot of fun. You should try a Chelsey bun if you ever get to Cambridge.

As for Paris, I've been there 4x times and I love it. I'm jealous that you're going to study in London and get to be w/ Alex. I wish I was still in Europe. My backpacking journey ended too soon.

ooooh if you decide to go to Paris, you should definitely let me know !
(although I'm not sure I'll be there...) but hey, a little part of the basilisk in your pasta would be glad to meet kristina from the parselmouths ! ;)
enjoy your stay in london, and try to see as many things as you can... i've lived in cambridge for a few months when i was a kid, and i LOVED it ! but you should also go to oxford and visit christchurch college where they filmed some parts of the HP movies...

I was out on a lake this weekend with various members of my family, including my goddaughter, who is two and a half. We pointed a sail boat out to her and she said, "It's a pirate ship!" Does this make you a pirate, Kristina?

Also, I'm super excited to hear about your experience in London. =]

I hope you have an awesome time in London, which I'm sure you will. As people before me have said, don't plan something to do for every second of every day you're here because you'll end up hating it and not taking anything in. If you try and do too much, it just won't be as good as if you just relax and just do what you feel like.

I saw that you were going to Summer in the City...I am so annoyed with myself. I was going to go, but then I decided that I didn't have the time (I live near Liverpool on the other side of the country) or the money (I am poor and unemployed) so I'm not going anymore. Darn...

But have an awesome time and I can't wait to read about everything you get up to

=D

Have you heard the song "I'm On A Boat" ft. T Pain?? 'cause that's what your post reminds me of. Haha, the song is painfully ridiculous, but you should give it a listen. :) Good post!

My friends and I went around Europe this summer and took an overnight ferry from France to England and had the same problem. I specifically recall walking down the hall of this cruiseship-esque boat singing 'POSEIDON' rather loudly as a group. Good times =)
