the tonys and blacking out.

Eia and I are sitting in her room watching the Tonys. I have never really cared about them all that much before, but Brian Yorkey, a playwright from our area who has done a number of productions at our little theatre in Issaquah (Village Theatre) was nominated for loooads of Tonys for "Next To Normal", which actually debuted as an Original show at our theatre, so of course we're watching dilligently for him and for all the fun in between performances from shows.

Next To Normal won best original score and Brian did a shout out to Village and we cheered like dorks. It's been fun. :)

Also, Eia and I were VERY skeptical of whatever this new show "Rock of Ages" is, but as soon as the main guy started flirting with Liza Minelli in the audience and then the entire cast broke out into an insane version of Don't Stop Believin'... well, now we want to see it. Maybe.

In other news, I left work early today (after just 3 hours) because while chatting with a woman at the subscription table, my vision starting clouding and I broke out in a cold sweat and collapsed into the chair behind me before completely blacking out for about 20 seconds. I have no idea why it happened or what's wrong, but nothing like that has ever happened to me before and it was really scary. Liz came and picked me up and took me to get food, and then about an hour later I (very carefully) drove home. I... can't explain it. I hope it doesn't happen again. :(

Lastly, I just love that I can log on to facebook and see things like this on my newsfeed:

Sounds like pure exhaustion to me. Look at how much you've done in the last month. Unplug and rest for a few days! :)

Get better, take care of yourself, go see a doctor. Especially if that Doctor is a Time-Lord.

um, blacking out inexplicably can come from really fucked up unexpected shit like brain tumors and stuff. i'd be more comfortable if you went to the doctor unless you really don't want to.
but yeah, i definitely cheered and freaked out when village got love. (yes, i watched all of the tonys)

P.S. my captcha is "riggers"

I always randomly black out. Did you suddenly stand up after lying or sitting down for a while. It could be exhaustion or just a sudden rush of blood flow to the brain maybe, Im not sure i just know it happens to me all the time and i haven't died yet. haha

alk;gjklfgj; SUCH A SCARY FEELING. it's happened to me a couple times...mostly because of lack of sleep/food. the worst was when i was working in the dining hall (right after pulling an all-nighter, without having eaten anything before work) and feeling kind of weird, taking one step toward the juice machine, and the next thing i knew i was on the ground and people were yelling about calling 911. they had to wheel me out on a stretcher in the middle of the dining hall and then i got to take a ride in an ambulance, get an IV, and spend the entire day in the hospital for them to say, "you should have eaten something and gotten some sleep." KAY, THANKS!

tl;dr - take care of yourself : (

Perhaps your blood sugar dropped very low, or your blood pressure. That's why I always recommend having a bag of chips around just in case. Oh, I'm studying in the medical field by the way. :)

Did you have a serious headache after? Not “My head is splitting” but instead “I wish my head would split to let out some of this pain, please!” headache?

It could have been the first sign of a migraine. I hope it wasn't, though. They are awful and painfully hellish dealings for all who get them.

Or maybe it’s just a backlash from some of the sinus drugs and sickness you’ve had to deal with? Are you going to get it checked out by a doctor? Blog readers don’t always make the best diagnosis.

I hope you are feeling better.

So I definitely turned to my parents and was like "why do I know of Village Theater in Issaquah?" They told me I didn't. But I am the winner!

I went on my computer as soon as Don't Stop Believing came on to see how many people Twittered about it. 12. :)

Please rest and don't hurt yourself.
If it happens again, you should think about seeing a doctor.
However, if you had just stood up or made an abrupt movement, black outs can be caused by low blood pressure and/or blood sugar. Happens to me all the time - sometimes I pass out from it. The cardiologist says if it happens, just sit down and put your head below your heart.

I hope you feel better soon Kristina :) blacking out is awful, generally comes from lack of food and sleep as mentioned many times above, but go to the docs and get a check-up if it'll ease your mind, always worth it!

I hope my captcha cheers you up, it made me giggle!

Crutgour - I can't think of a specific description but I was thinking some kind of wasting disease?

Go to the doctor sometime soon and mention what happened, ok? It was probably nothing but if it has never happened before you should at least let the doctor know about it.

I missed the Tonys completely. I am a very bad person.

Well, let's hope it was a one time thing... I missed the Tonys this year, I normally watch them, but I was helping a friend with her school project and it took HOURS!

And now for the completely unrelated portion of the comment!

Is there still going to be a gathering in Oregon on the 28th? I'd really like to come, I just need to start planning as I live in Canada land.

I've fainted a total of 6 times in my life. The first was when I lost a tooth and it wouldn't stop bleeding.
The second was when I got 2 teeth pulled out at the dentist SHOWED ME the freakin blood-covered-tooth and my mouth wouldn't stop bleeding (Do we see a trend yet?).
The third was one morning I got out of bed, walked into the bathroom, looked at the toilet trying to decide whether the urge to pee or the urge to puke was more pressing, and then woke up on the floor with my head wedged between the toilet and the tub. No clue what caused it.
The fourth was when I donated blood at my High School's blood drive, but the thing was really poorly organized so I missed my lunch and I fainted as they were pulling the needle out.
The fifth was after I accidentally slammed my finger in the door as I was leaving my dorm room. There wasn't even any blood, but a few minutes later in the bathroom, right as I was about to put in my contacts, I woke up with my head in the bottom of a shower stall.
The sixth was when I got blood drawn for a study I was participating in, but it was like 8 in the morning and they didn't tell me I was going to get blood drawn, so I hadn't eaten breakfast yet.

The moral of the story of "Every Time I Have Fainted Ever" is that sometimes there's a very obvious reason, and sometimes there just isn't.
If it happens just the once, its probably just a fluke. If it happens again, you should probably go see a doctor.
