Chipotle envy and word wars.

"Oh, what a world this life would be
Forget all your technicolour dreams
Forget modern nature
This is how it´s meant to be"
-Sondre Lerche, "Modern Nature"

Okay, well, I have given up hope of writing any more between my classes, so I might as well succumb to the fact that I want to write a blog post.

I just feel GUILTY, now, blogging. Because I should be using the time to work on my novel. But this is so much easier. So much more fun.

Okay, let's see. Exciting life type things.

1. We got a new roommate. A boy named Paul moved in, and while I don't know him very well yet, he seems like a good addition to the dynamic of our weird little family.

2. Even though I intended on staying in and studying/writing with PJ on Halloween, that obviously didn't happen. I guess we should have known. Paul chose that night to move in, so we decided that the only thing to do would be to go out with him. Justin and his friend Michelle came along as well, and it turned into a very good night. I also randomly ran into my friend Sarah while we were down on the Ave, which was bizarre. So Halloween = success. Study and NaNoWriMo kickoff, not so much.

3. Because of mine and Hayley's competitive nature, I have been feeling a little regretful of not counting my Chipotle burrito intake of 2009 as well. I honestly think I would be at least on par with her, and yet have no way to prove that. So in an act of boredom at work last weekend, I decided to go through my bank statements to see if I could figure it out that way. Unfortunately, I can only see back 90 days unless I actually request physical copies of the earlier ones, which I don't want to do because this really isn't that important. But in the last 90 days, I have had 11 burritos. To put that in perspective, that's about a 1 burrito per 8 days average (and a month of those 90 days were spent in London, which skews my numbers). I don't want to do the math, but that puts my projected burrito intake over all of 2009 WELL up there with Hayley's.

4. I just took a test I was sure I was going to fail and didn't do TOO terribly. I won't jinx myself. We'll see.

5. I have a lot to do this week before I leave for Wrockstock. Like do laundry. And pack. And film two videos, and write a midterm paper, and work an 8 hour shift, and write a few thousand more words. And then write more. And then some more.

6. I'm not sure why I chose to make this blog entry in the form of a list so I am going to stop.

NaNoWriMo is going well. Liz and I had our first word war last night, which was fun. While I tend to always finish my novels WELL before she does, she always just destroys me at word wars. However, I beat her last night 826 to 744 (in 30 minutes).

I have less to say than I thought I did. I'm going to go to my other class now, where I will probably daydream about my novel instead of paying attention. It is NOVEMBER. BRING IT ON. See ya!

Wordcount: 4,685

My word count is far below yours. That may be because I've started over twice...

I felt guilty yesterday when I started writing today's blog... and it turned into I wrote the whole blog and still only had 4 words (not even a sentence!) of my novel. But I always feel like, if I get things out of the way I won't worry about them and I can just focus on writing.

That or I'm a major procrastinator, which is what my blog today was about lol.

pee ess - your word count is higher than mine, and higher than it should be by the end of the day (roughly 3'334). Go you for writing!

So, I had this moment of "i know these lyrics" when your blog came up on my google feed, but I didn't see that it was by Sondre Lerche. I totally saw him live with the Mountain Goats here in London the...other month. In october.

Totally amazing.

Also, word wars pwn me. But, being hungry and forgetting my wallet while I was at uni made me knuckle down and break 5 thousand today. Productive!

Sondre Lerche! I LOVE him! Isn't he just excellent? Though I feel like kind of a dork, because I never really looked at the titles of the songs, so I always thought it was "forget mother nature" and their accents were just funny. Heh. Whoops :)
I learn so much from your blog, Kristina.
Oh! Side note, there is a character in my story named Kristina. She's a minor character, and she's not really modeled after you, but it was the first name that came to mind so I kept it!

While I literally laughed out loud at your adventures in burrito count-searching, I'd like to let you know that, well, bitch be trippin'. I'm sure I've eaten more than you have.

i request that you please figure out how many burritos you ate. the war is on!

I look forward more than you can imagine to you and Hayley having a chipotle war. I honestly have no idea on which of you to bet on either.

My word count is currently at 0. Serves me right for deciding to do this about 5 days before November started in the middle of my midterms so I had no planning time. Luckily I write fast, should hit 20k by next week I hope.

I have to say, all this nanowrimo talk from you, Hayley, John Green, etc. has FINALLY made me cave and sign up. TWO DAYS LATE. But it's okay, I'm determined to do this. It's my first try ever. I'm scared. But I'm 200 words in? A humble beginning to say the most. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is...thank you for inspiring me to start! :)
PS: can we be writing buddies? I'm oxiigen

I've gotta say that if I lived near a Chipotle, I'm sure I'd eat there a few times a day...EVERY day! Love that place. On my trip to NYC in August, I was so excited when I found one there :D Made an awesome trip even better!

I think it'd be worth it to go through all the complications of past bank statements to see exactly how many burritos you've eaten.

And I believe I speak for many other readers when I say that we have to know for sure. It ain't over till we get a solid figure.

Nice job on NaNoWriMo so far, by the way. :D

I just did my very first word war today and won! I wrote 954 words in 30 minutes and I'm a little bit overly proud of that fact. :P

I am getting seriously excited for Wrockstock. 3 days! NaNoWriMo isn't going quite as well but I am going to change up the way I write and that should help. I will make it this year. I would love a brief summary of your story if you're willing to give it.
