Sometimes I do this thing where I just sort of dream about reality. I mean, I have cool dreams too, all the time, but sometimes my dreams just stupidly mimic reality.
Like when I first started playing World of Warcraft, I started having dreams about running through the woods and killing wolves. But not even in a sweet real life way; it was in a pixelated-computer-game sort of way. Or when I worked at the TNT fireworks stand, I had countless dreams where I was just working at a register, checking out Bottle Rocket after Climbing Panda, offering people extra punks and bagging pop-its. And don't even get me started on the types of dreams I have when I start playing too much Tetris. There are few dreams less interesting than a whole night-time expanse of falling geometric shapes. Let me tell you.
The worst reality-based dream I ever had happened at my grandma's house a few summers ago. I had just taken a red-eye flight to North Dakota, and exhausted upon arrival, I took a little nap in my grandma's bedroom before doing anything else. In my dream, I was just sleeping in my grandma's room. The only reason I knew that it was a dream and not just me never actually falling asleep was because in the dream, I got up and put a blanket over myself because I was cold. When I woke up for real a bit later, there was no blanket over me. And I was still cold. Stupidest dream ever.
So keeping with this annoying habit, last night I dreamt I was grocery shopping. Like - just grocery shopping. I was walking around my usual Safeway, picking all the items I actually need in real life (bread, deli-meat, cheese, milk, yogurt, etc.). I woke up and realized I didn't actually do any of that shopping, and now I'm annoyed because it just means I have to do it all over again. And I hate doing the exact same things more than once. That's why I am awful at side-scroller video games.
The worst part is that now, since I bought all the fixin's for sandwiches in my dream, all I really want right now is a sandwich. But I can't make myself a sandwich, because all I have is dream-bread. Dream-cheese. Dream-sliced-ham.
Guess I better go to the store. Sigh.

Haha, that made me laugh so hard. My daughter actually slept well last night (17 month olds do not always do that), but I still kept dreaming that she woke up and I had to go comfort her. Like, can't I just have one night of good sleep? Sheesh!
Wow, I'n kinda glad my dreams aren't that boring... they're rather weird... most of the time...
I love reading your blogs! You're awesome!
That's strange, you dream about what you need or want in the immediate future.
Oh gosh, that kinda sucks!
I tend to dream about odd things. Like, last night I dreamt I was in my garden and my friends were over, and very little actually happened, we just sort of sat there. But I woke up and really missed my friends :(
I sometimes dream I've got up and got ready for school, then woken up and realised I had to do it all again
Most of my dreams are really odd, like the one I had where I was seaweed in a drain pipe. On the rare occasion I do have a normal dream it will normally involve me arguing with a friend. The bad thing about those dreams though is that I always end up being angry/annoyed at the friend for the rest of that day, even though they've done nothing wrong.
You're not alone, last night I had a dream I walked in on my boyfriend... peeling potatoes. He was just stood, peeling potatoes. Of all the crazy and wild dreams to have :|
I can totally relate. I work in a pharmacy and I go through phases where I just dream that I am making up prescriptions all night. I'm so annoyed when I wake up and have to go to work and do it all over again!
Hahaha that's funny! But sorry you don't like those dreams! I get them all the time too! When I have a big event or something the next day, I ALWAYS dream about the event, and then I wake up and realize it hasn't actually happened yet! Which is good, because things usually end up bad in my dreams!
Oh god this is so funny that my stomach's sore from laughing. That must suck so badly!
I have that a lot as well. What helps with me is to think of something interesting when I'm of to sleep, usually I end up dreaming about that.
I once had a dream that I spent the whole night laying awake, staring at the ceiling, unable to fall asleep. I woke up from that feeling like I hadn't slept at all.
Haha, story of my life. I have such mundane dreams all the time...like the one where I dreamed I got up and got ready for school...and then woke up and got up and got ready for school. My dreams are always painfully realistic whereas other people are always telling stories of the crazyyy shenanigans that occurred in theirs.
xD Oh, Kristina. Life's just the worst.
Ahh the plague of the Tetris dreams. Been there. It's not fun.
So if I fall back asleep after my dad wakes me up for school (nasty habit), I will dream that I'm putting my uniform on, and then I'll wake up and I'm still in my pj's. Worst feeling ever.
The worst part of those boring dreams is being unsure of what is real. Ive run into trouble at work with thinking Ive told someone something important, but then it was just a dream. I often don't know for awhile. When I worked in a fish processing plant my dreams were often moving as if I was still on the line with the belt moving. I do look forward to these dreams though. The dreams I have on a regular basis usually involve murder.
Oh god, is that a side effect of getting old?
(not that you're old. but i mean. like. adult. getting adult. xD)
but yeah, i've had dreams like that, where i do something and then I wake up and i haven't done it and it just sucks .
These are my comments about your newest video: Good video! Made me think a lot about my childhood, which was strangely similar. I guess growing up in the same time period makes a difference. My friends and I had a "business" at summer camp where we sold our creations (beaded lizards, spiders, etc., braided and knotted string bracelets, and also hair-wrapping and braiding) for quarters and dimes and whatever money we had.
I bought a somewhat expensive jean jacket at the Hard Rock Cafe in Cleveland awhile ago, and I hardly ever wear it. I've been trying to wear it more often recently, since it's gotten cooler. Those guitar pins don't come cheap either.
I don't really remember any of my dreams. But, on the rare occasion when I do, they are either frightening or weird.
I had the weirdest dream last night!!! Now I don't want you to think I'm creepy or anything, but you were in it and and so was littleradge and he was living on a houseboat and he had a baby, but it wasn't his he just had it for some reason. And his boat was stuck in a swamp that was in the middle of the lake and you had a speed boat and was going in really fast ciricles around him because you were mad at him or something and then it did the whole dream switchy thing and it was just me eating soup.... I have absolutely no idea what any of this means except that maybe I should stop watching Youtube videos when I should be going to bed... The End.
P.S. I hope this didn't creep you out, this was just my dream, in which you were a character.
The most boring dream I ever had was that I was on facebook. It was literally just me scrolling past people's status updates, and having a very boring chat with someone.
As if I don't spend enough time on facebook already, now I dream about it too.
Usually though, my dreams are at least a little more interesting than that, though they rarely make sense.
Sometimes I like to watch Youtube before I go to sleep, and Once I was watching Luke Conard and then had a dream that he gave me a piggy-back ride while swimming between icebergs in Alaska, then we went through a door floating in midair that lead to a huge party, then I woke up. I was watching your video with your family before I slept and I had a dream that we were in your backyard and you were grilling burgers, then I ate a hot dog and made oragami with my cousin. Another time I watched you and Luke and had a dream that we were sitting on the side of a mountain eating Chick-fil-a and I was recording everything with my camera and Luke started bowling with water bottles while you talked into the camera. I was disappointed that that wasn't actually on my camera. I am wierd, I know.
I've dreamt that I've taken a shower. Super exiting!
to funny. Most people try and dissect their dreams to find out what they mean. Like our minds are secretly trying to tell us something. But your dreams are just like "hey stupid, put a blanket on. Your cold!" haha
I've been having dreams of things that have happened during the day, but it's only the most mundane things that make it into my dreams. You are not alone!
Don't get me started about WoW related dreams; I went through a phase of dreaming that I was falling asleep while healing a raid and that everyone was upset at me, used to wake up in the middle of the night thinking that I'd better stop playing and go to bed, only to realise that I had!
Too funny! I normally dream of a mix of things I talked about/did that day. My dream last night was a little weird because I watched the newest Transformers movie and finished reading Half Blood Prince. Now that was a weird mix.
Not being able to eat dreams = wisdom.
Not being able to eat dreams = wisdom.
Hahahaha, okay two things.
1. Playing too much Tetris is CRAZY WEIRD in the way that it affects everyone I know in the same way. (You start seeing the falling blocks every time you close your eyes.) INSANE.
2. I only dream realistic things when I am very shallowly asleep. On MANY mornings, when it is time for me to wake up and go to school, I will DREAM THAT I WOKE UP and am getting ready for school. 10 minutes later or whatever, I'll actually wake up, be running late, and be quite pissed off that I am not dressed, etc. because I COULD SWEAR THAT I JUST GOT DRESSED (ETC.).
This ALWAYS happens to me. Especially like the day before I have work. I dream about standing around for 9 hours, scanning random pens and pencils and stacking shelves and then I wake up, exhausted, and have to do it all again in real life. SO.DAMN.ANNOYING.
I had this stretch of time in which I would dream that I would get up in the morning, pick out my outfits, take a shower and then "lay back in bed for a few seconds" - at which point I would wake up! So annoying!! I basically had to shower twice a day AND the outfits that I picked out in my dream were never clean and waiting for me in my closet!
I had a dream where I told people what I needed to get off my chest, then wen't to theater rehearsal, then did math homework. And when I woke up, all that stuff was still on my chest, I still had tons of math homework, and I had to go to rehearsal the next day.
And if my dreams aren't boring, they're just messed up.
Worst dream to have is where you're about to take a leak in the bathroom and then you suddenly wake up finding yourself really needing to go to the bathroom and then for a split second, you wonder if you relieved yourself in your dream or in real life.
Honestly...I think your mundane dreams story could make an amazing short story, commenting on how some people always chase their dreams only to end up with dream-bread, dream-cheese.
