So even though I have a million other things to do, I have been working through editing my novel.

I have thus far gotten through chapters 1-6, which puts me about 1/5 done.

I hate to sound arrogant or anything, but sometimes when reading through my own writing, it sometimes makes me crack up... I mean, there are obviously plot holes and things lacking development and general problems with it too... but when push comes to shove, I am proud of myself for not only writing an entire novel in 30 days, but actually managing to be a little funny, as well.

I thought I would share two of my favorite lines so far:

"I was still sore at him, but a smart girl never turns down free candy from a stranger. Wait. That’s definitely not how the phrase goes."

“This is going to be awesome!” Riley was already bouncing up and down. “Wait,” he said, pausing. He untied his wind breaker from around his waist and tied the arms right around his forehead. He looked like a cross between a terrible ninja and a kid with a jacket on his head. “Now I’m ready.”

Maybe someday I will actually be okay enough with this story to show it to people. ^_^

blueberry update.

So last night after work I went and bought a new bag of blueberries, put them in a tupperware, and put them in the freezer.

When I went down for breakfast this morning, they were no longer on my shelf ( >:O ) because when I opened the freezer, THE TUPPERWARE FELL OUT, THE LID CAME OFF, AND ALL OF MY BRAND NEW BLUEBERRIES SCATTERED ALL OVER OUR GROSS KITCHEN FLOOR.

I just.... I quit.

Okay I am going to feel really badly if this person reads my blog, but this is an actual real message I just got on facebook:

i don\'t mean to like an obbsesed fan !
but i am !
i think the way you record your videos is genius !
your so tallented !

OMG ! im actually sending a message to the REAL Kristina Horner ! :O
xx "

Just.... what. No. Not a celebrity. Try again.
God I hope they were joking.

old friends.

It really, really bothers me when I run into old friends from high school, and stop to chat for a moment to catch up, and they say something like this:

"Hey what have you been up to? What school are you going to?"

Like they assume me telling them that I attend the University of Washington is any sort of indicator of "what I have been up to."

Yes, I take classes at UW. Yes I am a junior and a CHID major and live in the U District. Yes, I am admittedly a "Husky" and the places where I live and shop and learn are decorated in purple and gold.
But what I have been UP to? That bit of information is so far down on the list of things I would say I have been up to.

But how would a random person I used to know in high school understand if I told them I have released 2 albums, traveled to play shows all over the country, broadcast videos to an audience of 20,000 on YouTube, and am dating a boy who lives in another country?

They wouldn't. So I don't.
I told the aforementioned friend that I am a CHID major at UW and I spend a lot of time on YouTube. She probably thinks I watch videos of kittens or something. Sigh.

So far living with people has been pretty much nothing but fun.

But upon arriving home from Florida, I have been annoyed annoyed annoyed.
First of all, I have one shelf in the freezer that I use. One. And I keep all my stuff there, so I dont forget what's mine. When I opened it yesterday, all that was on my shelf was 8 cans of frozen lemonade and all my stuff was scattered everywhere.
I moved it all back, bit my tongue, and dealt with it.
This morning I went to make some cereal, opened the freezer again to get my blueberries (I KNOW there was a huge tupperware of them, I left them there on Friday) and it's just gone. GONE.

So here's the worst part. I was mad, because I wanted blueberries, and so I was moving everything around seeing if maybe they were under something, and in doing this, I STUCK MY HAND IN AN OPEN BAG OF FROZEN RAW SHRIMP.

If you know anything about my dislike for seafood, you will know this is the LAST way I want to start my morning.

This day is off to a good start. -_-

I have been meaning to write something in here since I got home from Florida, but I didnt feel inspired because I would just write something like:

"Had a blast in Florida, played 2 great shows, got to see all my friends that I only get to see here and there across the year for wizard rock events and spent a lovely day at Seaworld."

I dont want to just sum up my life in a blog. I like to ponder and notate and dictate things within my life, but the weekend was just a whirlwind of fun things all happening so quickly... I barely had time to take it all in, let alone digest it and now write a commentary on it.

So here is a list of things, I suppose:

1. Got to spend a good 3 days with Brittany, which was lovely, as our time together is rare.
2. Flew across the country and back in 3 days time.
3. Played shows in both Jacksonville and Orlando.
4. Sang the debut of Fair Fortune to a nice audience complete with silly costumes and props.
5. Got to meet Kasey, a youtube friend.
6. Ate at the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando.
7. Hung out at the Hard Rock Hotel.
8. Kissed a dolphin and tickled its tummy.
9. Held/fed various exotic birds.
10. Saw Shamu and Sea Lions, respectively in their own shows.
11. Rode the Kracken, a feet dangling type roller coaster.
12. Spent a weekend with some of my favorite people in the world.
13. Missed Alex, which is ridiculous as he really wasnt any further away from me. He was closer actually, geographically. But still. <3
14. Got home in time for class on Monday.

Now I have a whole list of things to accomplish, but instead I am watching Doctor Who. xD

I dont like not having time.

My stomach has grumbled and informed me that we are hungry.

But in 20 minutes I have class.
10 minutes after that I have another class.
Then a 30 minute walk home.
15 minutes later I need to leave for work.
Then I have a mad scramble to get my things together and go to Brittany's house to spend the night so we can leave for the airport tomorrow at 4 AM.

Here's to hoping Brittany will feed me. xD

Yeah, good thing I spent my free hour on dailybooth and not considering the option of using this time to like... eat.

six years ago.

I have been reading my old xanga; it spanned from 2003 to 2004, which would encompass my freshman and sophomore years of highschool.
Reading my journal entries is such a trip for me, because I am exactly the same yet so very, very different.

On the one hand, I was pretty eloquent, even as a moody prepubescent teen girl. There arent grammar or spelling errors or anything.
I used my blog half as an escape to complain about my life and half as a promotional tool to talk about my fanfiction and other nerdy internet hobbies. The latter hasnt changed, ha. I mean, I dont write fanfiction anymore, but I still talk about concerts and CDs and new videos, and internet-nerdom is all relative.

But the biggest difference is how often I just hated life.
And the fact that I actually, literally on Monday, May 26th 2003 started an entry by saying:

"Man, life really blows."

hahaha. That is so dramatically far from the truth and I hate my six-years ago self for being so ignorant.

Also I did the cute thing where I would actually write everything I did that day. I think it took me a few years of blogging to figure out that no one cares.

If I described today as I used to in 2003, it would sound like this:

"Today I woke up at 7:30 and read the four emails waiting in my inbox from Alex, wrote a quick little good morning message back, and then pulled myself out of bed. I listened to Lily Allen while I got ready for school and then decided to forgo a shower so I could have time to make myself oatmeal with bananas. <3 Then Eia decided to drive us to school instead of walking, which was a nice change, and we illegally parked in a load/unload zone before running off to our Art History section, which is annoyingly on the 3rd floor of the -"

I'm sure there ARE people out here who would read this, but just, no.
My life is not THAT interesting.
I'm glad I grew up hahhahaa.

I am a maiden in a white sundress dancing in a field of tulips.

Only, you know, not.

stupid and interesting.

I recently bought a book on Amazon, and then got a package today that was distinctly smaller than said book should be. Curious, I opened it up, to realize I had not in fact bought a book, but instead its CD-shaped counterpart, the audio-recording.
That's just plain disappointing. The Internet is deceiving.

In my mad rush to class today (I usually skip tuesdays as I only have one class, so this was an event) I found that when going up stairs, I take two at a time on my right foot and only one at a time on my left. I have no idea why this is. And I bet this makes me look funny, trundling along up steps with a lopsided swagger.

I should quit updating my blog in class. Okay. Bye.

Monday, February 16, 2009

Two two two.

My brain is just mush today.
Everything I did, I did twice.

I made two videos (one for 5AG and one for my channel).
I watched 2 episodes of Heroes (last week's and this weeks).
I worked through 2 chapters of my novel (which adds up to about 9 pages I think).
I worked through 2 chapters of Alex's novel (mostly reading but taking down some notes as well).

It would be nice if I could just have two night's sleep now, as well. :D

Thankfully I dont have class until 1:30 tomorrow so I can have another lovely lie in bed and do nothing sort of morning. Maybe I'll watch more Doctor Who. Maybe I'll keep with the trend and watch 2 episodes. xD

Florida is in four days and I feel severely unprepared. WHO is going to get us to the airport at 4AM? Are real people awake at this time? I have only ever seen it from the other end.
Kind of wish this plane was taking me to London.
Florida will be nice too, I'm sure. Haha.

Okay, at this point, I dont care WHO knows.

Alex is the most fucking adorable person I have ever met in my life.
I have just found my Valentine's day present that he hid in my room before he left, which was ingeniously tucked away in my copy of 13 Little Blue Envelopes on my bookshelf.

He's lucky that I didnt pull this book off my shelf and start reading it two days ago when I seriously was thinking about doing so, because I was excited about going to England this summer.

Every time I open this card, cheesy music comes out of it and I am smiling and happy and klsdfjfg.

Just feeling silly tonight.

It's been Valentine's day for a half hour and I should be lonely and upset but I am not. I am happyhappy, very happy.

This is the first night in 3 nights that I havent unwillingly just passed out at 10:30, so that's positive.

I'm going to go to bed on my own terms, now, in actual pajamas and with my light out. Imagine that. xD

Friday, February 13, 2009

I feel like there are two kinds of people in the world.

There are people who walk on sidewalks, and people who, if there is a ledge nearby, will instead hop up on the ledge and walk there, arms out and balancing.

I'm a ledge walker.

I feel so motivated right now.

Today I have the day off work, and my to-do list is LONG. But it's not daunting. It's exciting.

First I have class.
Then I am cashing a check that I've been carrying around in my wallet all week.
Next I am finishing filing my taxes.
Then I have to record guest vocals for a few tracks for Lauren's new solo album.
Then I have to pay and send off my stupid parking ticket I got when Alex was here.
Then I have to send my dad my grades from the last quarter so he can give them to the insurance people.
THEN I am recording vocals, finally, for that song I owe Alex for finishing my 50,000 words after he did.
And then, then, then if I am not too burnt out, I am going to hopefully start working on a novel idea I've been carting around in my head for nearly a year because this morning John Green told me he liked the idea and inspired me to not wait until nanowrimo but instead to start now.

Maybe if I get enough of these things accomplished, I will start Season 2 of Doctor Who. xD
I also missed Heroes and Gossip Girl this week, not to mention sleeping through the last 20 minutes of Lost. I will need to find time to watch those at some point as well.

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

turtle food.

I fell asleep during Lost tonight.. completely missed the last 20 minutes or so because I was so tired. I did wake up at 4 am to take Alex to the airport, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

I'll have to rewatch it tomorrow.

It is now 10 PM and I am contemplating going to sleep. This is unheard of, for me.
The only thing stopping me is that it is considerably more lonely in this big queen bed of mine today. It feels too big. I'm cuddled up with Max the turtle, and my remote control with Friends playing on my little tv, and I am praying that the little baby pink turtle doesn't eat me in my sleep. He's eyeing me. I cant tell if he just wants to love me, or if he's planning my demise.

If my timezone calculations are correct, I think Alex gets home in about 45 minutes. I feel guilty that I went to lunch with Eia, to school, work, watched Lost; had a whole day while he's just been flying.
I will soon be returning the favor. :D

Have just received the best news of all time.

First. Backstory.
Alex and I were watching the Notebook and during a commercial break, there was an advertisement for Vermont Teddy Bears. A minute into the commercial I still thought it was a spoof for something else, because it was THAT cheesy and ridiculous, and when it ended and we had to admit it was a REAL commercial for REAL handcrafted Vermont Teddy Bears, I think Alex and I both secretly wanted to buy them for each other.
Because come on. Love Bandit Bear? A bandanged up bear with a crutch called "I've Fallen For You"?
And the best part is: they're wildly expensive. $100 freaking teddy bears.
It's one of the beautiful mysterious of life; how this company exists.

Liz was with us when we discovered this gold mine, and she has JUST texted me to inform me that Vermont Teddy Bears were referenced on a episode of the Simpsons from 5 years ago.

I have used some of the money I was saving to study in London this summer and bought... a ticket... to London... preemptively.

So there's my Spring Break.

But hey. I'm in college. You're SUPPOSED to go crazy places for Spring Break, right? I think this is much, much, much better than Cancun or wherever everyone seems to go.

And I'll still be able to afford this summer. I'm fine. Since I've like, signed a contract and everything, I have no choice hahha. I just wont be able to afford ... food ... haha. That's okay. It's worth it. I've been saving up for this since highschool anyhow.

I've had one of the greatest weeks of my life and I am dreading tomorrow morning so much. It's like a little dull ache in the pit of my stomach. BUT. Fun times have to end so that new ones can start.
And start they will. :)

Alex and I still have a list of things to do before he goes so I am going to go do those.

So one of my housemates, Tyler, was teasing me just now on facebook chat for having a second british boy in the house since I have moved in.

I was getting embarrassed, but then he said, "Hey, don't worry about it. It's a great time for imports."

shoes WHAT.

One of my coworkers has just showed me a pair of (questionable) brown leather boots she purchased earlier today.

I already was not a huge fan of boots of its kind in general but then I asked her how much they were.

She blushed and said "five hundred dollars".

I have spent a WEEK weighing the pros and cons of spending $500 on going to London to see Alex for spring break, which would include CULTURE and NEW SIGHTS and GENERAL FUN TIMES, and she just threw the same amount of money into some stupid leather with rose patterns on it. That she will probably only wear twice and decide it's out of fashion.

I hate people sometimes.

takeover rawrr

"I don't know why I'm giving you more access to ruin my life" - Kristina Horner, just before I got hold of this blog. <3

For those who haven't seen, I totally ruined the Seattle girl's Harry Potter-related world by exposing her as a BIG FRAUD.

Kinda. xD

I'm in Seattle and it's amazing <33 I'm hoping the owner of this blog is having as much as fun as I am. I'm sure she is. Today we're gonna get our lazy selves moving and go off on adventures. It'll be spectacular :)

Alex is finally here and all is lovely. :]

He's asleep (teehee) so I am hanging in Eia's room, laptopin' it up. Jetlag ftl.

Eia keeps telling me "it smells sooo good, like garlic bread!" but my nose is still stuffy and I cannot smell a thing. I feel cheated. I LIKE garlic bread.

YouTube Quiz

Got this off Johnny :D

Username: italktosnakes

Why did you pick it?: I originally joined YT to make harry potter related videos, having no idea I would continue to use this site for other things, so I picked a username that had a Parselmouth reference.

Who did you first subscribe to?: I watched TheHill88 before I even signed up, but I think I actually subbed to ifancythetrio before Caitlin after making an account.

Who did you most recently subscribe to?: collaboratethis, I felt peer pressured into it. XD

What does your last text message say?: It's from Hayley.. it says "YOUTUBEGIRL GOT YOU."

Describe the person who posted this using one line?: A lovely boy named Johnny.

Are you excited about anything?: Meeting Alex.

Do you have a crush? Yes. :D

Have you ever been drunk?: Yes. Yes I have.

Who was the first Youtuber you met in real life?: Hm. This is hard actually. I guess it would have to be Bre Bishop, since she was technically one of the only youtubers I knew of when I met her. After that though.. hm. John Green, maybe?

Who was the last Youtuber you met in real life?: Have I met anyone new since YouTube Live? I don't think I have. In that case, it would be a whole list of people. I have come really close to meeting everyone I want to meet, surprisingly. Aside from UK youtubers. And Tyler Oakley.

Do you pefer day or night?: It doesnt matter really, as long as I am doing something fun.

Are you a member of any collab channels?: Fiveawesomegirlssss.

Do you have a secret account?: The now retired orangesandsnakes. ha.

Do you believe in God?: Not really, no.

Which youtuber do you talk to the most?: Lately? Nerimon, hayleyghoover and mememolly.

Which Youtuber do you think makes the best videos?: Hayley's are always amazing. Michaelaranda rarely disappoints. And I am ALWAYS excited to see a new tyleroakley video in my sub box.

Are you in a relationship?: I'm going to say no.

Would you date a smoker?: I would prefer not to, actually.

What do you need?: To get over this cold.

What do you remember?: Uh.... lots of things? Not birthdays though, thats for sure. I fail.

What do you wish?: to see the WORLD.

So this morning Eia texts me from her bedroom and says "skip japanese art history?" and since we have this class together, I text back "Sure, sweet dreams xoxo" and then I find myself with a sudden hour of free time.
I decided to start recording vocals for a song, and the next time I looked at a clock I realized I had not only missed my first class but my second one as well.
At this point, I dont see really any point in going to the third either, as I just have to rush off to work afterward. Soooo.... my nose is still stuffy, I am going to call it a sick day. Or something. Oops.

In other news, I was supposed to get Alex at the airport tonight but airports are evil establishments of terribleness and bad stuff (not true) so he is being delayed and has to stay overnight in a city that is not here tonight. So that's annoying.

I have 3 hours now before work. Amazing what not going to school does for my free time. Food and Doctor Who? Yes, please.

Monday, February 2, 2009

This is the most terrible homework assignment I have ever been given.

So my professor has given us four short paragraphs from various philosophers that we have been learning about in class. I am to choose two of these and write commentaries on them.

Why is this hard?

So I have to read through literally hundreds of pages of Plato, Aristotle, Bacon, Bruno, and Faulkner to identify these passages before I can even begin the actual assignment. He must know that NOBODY in class is keeping up with the ridiculous amount of reading he assigns us.

Even with the help of google it's taken me an hour to identify 3 of them.

I want so badly to finish this before Wednesday when Alex gets here (because if I think focusing is difficult NOW...) but it's so haaard. :(

And my housemates are playing blockles downstairs. Life is unfair.

In other news, Gossip Girl is getting weird, and the last 10 minutes of Heroes were all we needed of that episode. But oh were those 10 minutes good.

Now back to suffering.
